All about the restricted traffic zone of Turin
The City of Turin has decided to limit traffic in some areas of the city, putting 27 electronic access points in the Central LTZ and the Valentino LTZ. Each area has other cameras inside it that take pictures of the license plate of the vehicle in transit or parked and communicate the number directly to the Mobility Office of the Municipality.
The city of Turin, internationally known as the headquarters of the renowned football team Juventus, is rich of history, monuments and breathtaking landscapes. The origin of this city, as well as its streets, is due to the Romans: the road structure of Augusta Taurinorum are in fact typically Roman, with a quadrangular structure of streets that intersect perpendicularly (the classic "cardi" and "decumanus"). The LTZ of Turin 'Centrale'
In this area, parking and circulation are forbidden for any vehicle, except those with a permit and/or authorization, during the following hours: from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. every weekday, Saturday and Sunday excluded. The Ztl Torino Centrale is delimited by the following roads:

The LTZ Area Romana
This area, located within the Central LTZ and having an electronic access in via Delle Orfane corner via Santa Chiara, is active at the following times: from 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the following day of every day, including holidays.
The LTZ Public Transport
The City of Turin has decided to make some roads only accessible by public transport. This area, which extends along via Milano, via Rossini, via Rossini, via XX Settembre , via Pietro Micca, via Accademia Albertina, via Accademia Albertina, via Arsenale, via XX Settembre, piazza Statuto, via Valperga Caluso nord , is located inside the Central LTZ, and is active from 07:00am to 8:00pm every day, including holidays.
The pedestrian LTZ
This area is closed 365 days a year, from 00:00 to 24:00 , however, only for cargo loading and unloading it is possible to access it from 10:30 to 12:30.
The Valentino LTZ
The Valentino LTZ extends over the Valentino park and avoids parking and transit 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The only vehicles authorized are of course those of the police and first aid.
How to access the Central LTZ
The municipality of Turin has provided for numerous types of permits for circulation and parking within the Limited Traffic Zone. Let's find out the modalities, the requirements and the necessary forms. Only owners of cars with environmental class Euro 3 or higher, powered by gas, methane or LPG, can apply for a permit.
The types of permits that the municipality issues are:
- Disabled, with a cost of 6 € and validity equal to 5 years;
- Blue A and Blue B with a cost of 200 € + tax stamps and validity equal to 2 years;
- Photographs with a cost of 200 € + tax stamps and validity from 1 day to 1 year;
- Green with a cost of 200 € + tax stamps for residents;
- School with a cost of 30 € + tax stamps valid in conjunction with the school year;
- Orange, Blue, Lilac and Disco (for residents, residents and owners of parking space in the LTZ) with validity of 1 year and a cost of 70, 30, 50 € + tax stamps;
- Shipyard at a cost of 100 € + tax stamps with a maximum validity of 1 year.
- Pure electric cars can obtain the Blue A category permit, even if the owners are not residents, paying only the tax stamp;
- Resident owners of hybrid electric/petrol cars registered from 2015, will receive a discount for the Blue A permit.
It is possible to enter the Restricted Traffic Zone during the hours in which it is active, by requesting an authorization (different from the permit). For example, if you wish to park your car inside a car park located in the LTZ, simply fill in a form that the parking staff will provide to its customers, in order to enter your license plate number and avoid incurring the penalty.
Who has free access to the LTZ?
Mopeds, motorcycles and car sharing services can circulate within the ZTL. The following categories of vehicles may also circulate without any permit or authorisation, by filling in the Exemptions a posteriori form:
- Loading/unloading of goods in reserved lanes/streets
- Disabled
- Companies with active construction sites in the city centre
- Institutional visit
- Temporary disability
- Tool wagons
- Detective agencies
- Taxi and rental with driver
- Artisans or Enterprises
- Municipal technicians on call
- Catering
- Film Shooting/Spot and -Great Events
- Funeral honours
- Attendees at weddings and funerals
- Hotel
- Home visiting veterinarians
Sanctions
The fines for those who enter the LTZ without permission or authorization are of a different kind: from 87 to 345 € and from 168 to 679 € if the vehicle belongs to a highly polluting environmental class. In addition, if the access occurs again within 24 months, there is also the suspension of the license from 15 to 30 days.
