Barcelona-El Prat Airport is located 15 kilometers southwest of downtown and 3 kilometers from the port. It has two passenger terminals and it is the second airport with the most of the traffic in Spain. Park with Parkimeter and forget about your car!
Barcelona El Prat International Airport is located at 15 kilometers southwest of Barcelona, just 6 meters above the sea level. The airport is located between the municipalities of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi. It is commonly called El Prat Airport, although in 2011 was approved its official name and since then it is: Barcelona Airport - El Prat. The airport is identified by codes of the International Air Transport Association (IATA): BCN and the International and Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI): LEBL. The airport is property of ENAIRE (Entidad Pública Empresarial known before as AENA), which manages almost every spanish airport.
You can arrive in a few minutes from Barcelona centre using public or private transport.
The characteristic taxis yellow and black from Barcelona offer their services from/to the airport 24 hours everyday and moreover, they have stops in all the terminals. The journey from the airport to Barcelona's centre can last between 20 and 40 minutes, depending mainly on the traffic.
The taxi's service cost will depends on the departure and the destination in the city but it will also depend on if it is day or night or holiday, The service import is usually between 25-30 euros, although there is a fixed price for journeys from the airport to the cruise port for 39€. Taxis admit 4 passengers and they may charge supplements fees for pets, luggage, etc. If you need special taxis for people with disabilities or more seats, you should inform before and possibly hire it beforehand.
The aerobus is as fast as a taxi if your rute is Gran Via, Plaza España, Fira o Plaza Catalunya, It costs 10€ roundtrip each person (if you are 4 people it is the same price as a taxi). You can buy your aerobus online tickets.) There are two Aerobus lines: A1 and A2, A1 goes to T1 and A2 to T2, they run every 5,10 or 20 minutes depending on the hour, the terminal but the service is continous from 5 a.m to 1 a.m.

The cheapest option to go to the airport from the city mostly if you come from Sants, Plaça Catalunya (Barcelona's centre) or Sagrera is Renfe Cercanías (Rodalies in catalan), You can use the famous T-10 from the Barcelona's metro to get to the airport. Be careful with the tickets you buy, RENFE tickets do not have the same price. The stop is in the airport T2 and then you can use shuttles to get to your terminal.
SInce 2016 Barcelona's metro arrives to the airport, with stops in both T1 and T2. This is de best option to travel to Fira Barcelona, El Prat, l'Hospitalet or Zona Universitaria, if you want to go to the centre, the journey will probably take longer because you can't get directly there, it is necessary to take another public transport.
If you pay for a simple ticket or T-10 (T-escolar or T-2 Comerç) you will have to pay a supplement of 4,5€. This supplement is specially for tourists, if you live in Barcelona and you have any bono (T-mes, T-jove, T-Trimestre, T-50-30, T-12. T-70/30, Tarjeta Rosa, T-4) you will not have to pay for this supplement.
If you will visit Barcelona with the Barcelona card the journey in the line 9 (as all the public transport network) will be free.

The most comfortable way to get to the airport, specially if you come from somewhere away from the centre, is going by car.
From the city centre the access is really quick, you can take the rondas (Ronda de Dalt, Ronda del Mig -Plaça Cerdà- o Ronda Litoral) or also Gran Via (going through Plaza España / Fira de Barcelona). Without any traffic it can take 10 minutes from Plaza España or 20 minutes from Plaza Cataluña to get to the airport. If there is any traffic issue it can take an hour or longer from Plaza Cataluña.
To arrive to the airport from the south of Barcelona (Castelldefels, Sitges, Vilanova, Tarragona, Vendrell,...) the fastest way is the freeway C-32 (named Pau Casals) that bypasses all the cosatal towns. The C-32 is a freeway with a toll that costs 3€ (depending on the access). You can also take the N-340 without tolls until El Vendrell and then take the C-31 (Garraf coast road or Castelldefels highway).
From the north of Barcelona, the most common option and usually the fastest is taking Ronda de Dalt from the accesses of different highways (A-2, B-23. A-7, etc.).
At the same airport you will find AENA's official parking but it has higher prices compared to other parking services on Internet. There are 3 options to park in the airport:
1.AENA's Official Parking (inside the airport): it has it's own fees (long and short term). It has the highest price but is the closest parking to the terminals (you can walk from there). 2.VIP Service: they will pick up your car at your arrival to the terminal and they will return your car when you come back. It is a very comfortable, cheap and assured service and wha't more, they clean your car. 3.Shuttle service: they are 5-10 minutes walk parkings from the airport that has very economic prices with a lot of offers depending on the services (interior, exterior, covered, with cleaning, etc.). Once you leave your car parked, they pick you up and drive you to the ariport with their vans. This option is specially convinient for mid-term or long-term trips.
In Parkimeter you are able to compare the prices between different services so you can decide which is the option that better suits you.
Taxi vs AENA vs Llollo vs Parkimeter
*Approximate comparison of a 2-day stay in one of the Parkimeter car parks vs 2 days in the official AENA car park (long stay), 2 days of parking with Llollo and a trip from Round trip by taxi from the centre on weekends.
The difference between prices to park with Parkimeter compared with other options is huge only for a day, but if you save for several days or weeks the price per day decreases arriving in some cases up to 80% compared for a daily price.
