Barcelona - El Prat Airport Parking

Barcelona-El Prat Airport is located 15 kilometers southwest of downtown and 3 kilometers from the port. It has two passenger terminals and it is the second airport with the most traffic in Spain. Park with Parkimeter and forget about your car!

The Barcelona-El Prat International Airport is located 15 kilometers southwest of Barcelona, just 6 meters above sea level. The airport is situated between the municipalities of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans, and Sant Boi. It is commonly referred to as the Prat Airport, although in 2011 its official name was changed to Barcelona-El Prat Airport. The airport is identified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code 'BCN' and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) code 'LEBL'. ENAIRE (formerly known as AENA) owns and operates this airport, managing almost all Spanish airports.

How to Get to Barcelona - El Prat - Josep Tarradellas Airport

You can reach the airport from the center of Barcelona in just a few minutes using public or private transportation.

Taxi

The characteristic black and yellow taxis of Barcelona offer their service to and from Barcelona Airport 24 hours a day, with stops at all terminals. The journey from the airport to the center of Barcelona usually takes between 20 and 40 minutes, depending mainly on the traffic conditions.

The cost of the taxi service depends on the departure terminal and the destination within the city. It also varies depending on whether it is daytime, nighttime, or a holiday. The fare usually ranges from €25 to €30, but there is a flat rate of €39 for trips between the airport and the cruise terminal. Taxis usually accommodate 4 passengers and may charge extra for pets, luggage, etc. If you require a special taxi for persons with disabilities or need more seats, you should inquire beforehand and possibly inform the chosen taxi company to arrange it in advance.

Aerobús

The Aerobús is a fast and convenient option to reach the airport. It departs from Gran Vía, Plaza España, Fira, or Plaza Cataluña, and the cost is €10 round trip per person. Keep in mind that if you are traveling with 4 people, it may be cheaper to take a taxi. However, if you need transportation for 7 people, you can request a 7-seater taxi. You can buy your Aerobús tickets online.

There are two Aerobús lines (blue buses): A1 and A2, which go to terminals T1 and T2 respectively. Buses run every 5, 10, or 20 minutes depending on the time of day and the terminal, and the service operates 24 hours a day. This is one of the most comfortable, fast, and widely used means of transportation for tourists traveling between Barcelona Airport and the city center.

The Aerobús stops from the airport to the city are:

Cercanías (RENFE)

The cheapest option to access the airport from the city, especially if you are coming from Sants, Plaza Cataluña (the center of Barcelona), or Sagrera, is using Renfe Cercanías (in Catalan: Rodalies). The famous T-10 metro card of Barcelona can be used to reach the airport. Note that the names of the public transport cards have changed; if you purchase your ticket from a machine, you should look for the option "T-casual" instead of T10, which was the previous name. Be careful because the prices for RENFE tickets are not the same. Furthermore, the Renfe suburban train will take you to the end of the line, which is located at T2. From there, you will need to use shuttle buses to reach your flight terminal if it is not T2.

Metro (Orange Line 9)

Since 2016, the Barcelona metro has reached the airport, with stops at both T1 and T2. This is the best option for traveling to Fira Barcelona, El Prat, l'Hospitalet, or the University Zone. However, if you are going to the center of Barcelona, you will need to transfer and will likely take longer to arrive.

Keep in mind: if you pay for a single ticket or use the T-10 (now T-casual), T-escolar, or T-2 Comerç cards, you will need to pay a €4.5 surcharge. Since this surcharge is aimed at tourists, if you live in Barcelona and have a pass such as T-usual or T-jove, you will not have to pay the surcharge.

If you are visiting Barcelona with the Barcelona Card, your journey will be free!

Other Buses

In addition to the Aerobús, several Barcelona (or metropolitan) buses go to the airport:

There are also night buses with stops at El Prat Airport:

How to Get to Barcelona - El Prat - Josep Tarradellas Airport by Car

The most convenient way to get to the airport, especially if you are coming from somewhere far from the center of Barcelona, is by car.

From the city center, access is very fast, either from the ring roads (Ronda de Dalt, Ronda del Mig - Plaza Cerdà - or Ronda Litoral) or from Gran Vía (through Plaza España / Fira de Barcelona). On a traffic-free day, it takes about 10 minutes from Plaza España or 20 minutes from Plaza Cataluña. However, if there is heavy traffic, it may take over an hour from Plaza Cataluña.

To reach the airport from the south of Barcelona (Castelldefels, Sitges, Vilanova, Tarragona, Vendrell, etc.), the fastest route is the C-32 motorway (also known as Pau Casals), which bypasses all the coastal towns. The C-32 is a toll road with a cost of about €3 (depending on the access point). You can also access the south without tolls via the national road N-340 to El Vendrell and then take the C-31 (Coast of Garraf or Autovía de Castelldefels).

From the north of Barcelona, the most common and fastest option is to take Ronda de Dalt from the accesses of different highways (A-2, B-23, A-7, etc.).

Parking at Barcelona - El Prat - Josep Tarradellas Airport

At the airport, you will find the official AENA parking, although its prices are higher than those of other parking services you can reserve online. There are basically three options for parking at the airport:

  1. Official Parking (inside the airport) by AENA, which has its own rates for long and short stays. It has the highest price, but it is the closest to the terminals (you can walk to them).
  2. VIP Service (valet parking): they will pick up your car upon your arrival at the terminal and return it to you upon your return. It is a very comfortable and insured service, and they can even clean your car if you wish.
  3. Transfer Service (shuttle): these parkings are located 5-10 minutes from the airport and offer very economical prices, with various options (indoor, outdoor, covered, with cleaning, etc.). Once you park your car, they will take you to the airport in their shuttle vans. This option is especially convenient for medium to long trips.

At Parkimeter, you can compare prices between different services to choose the one that suits you best.

Save up to 80% on your parking!

The price difference in parking with Parkimeter compared to other options is already significant for one day, but when booking for several days or weeks, the price per day decreases, sometimes offering discounts of up to 80% compared to the daily rate.

Additionally, we have parking lots throughout the city and in more than 70 locations in Spain!
