The Estádio da Luz was inaugurated in October 2003 to host the Euro the following year. It is the home of Sport Lisboa e Benfica and has a capacity of almost 66 thousand fans. The stadium is located in the parish of São Domingos de Benfica, in the north of the Portuguese capital. The old stadium had been founded in 1954 and was named Estádio da Luz because it was in the parish of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz. Next to the stadium is the Cosme Damião Museum and the famous Eusébio statue. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's academy is currently located in Seixal, also in Lisbon. Benfica has an immense history and is the Portuguese club with the most members and supporters. If you are a football fan, don't miss the opportunity to visit the home of one of Portugal's greatest clubs.
