A little above São Pedro de Alcântara, is the Princípe Real Garden, officially called Jardim França Borges. It is situated near Bairro Alto and the Lisbon Botanical Garden. The garden was inaugurated in 1853 and is of romantic style. Currently it is quite busy, has a restaurant and terraces and is the site of various activities. The best known project is the Princípe Real Organic Market, an open-air market where farmers sell their produce every week. The garden is a great place to relax and be close to the essence of Lisbon.
