Chamartín is a district of Madrid. It was originally a village near the town called Chamartín de la Rosa, which belonged largely to the dukes of Pastrana-Infantado, where Napoleon Bonaparte stayed during his trip to Madrid during the War of Independence.
It is composed of the districts El Viso, Prosperidad, Ciudad Jardín, Hispanoamérica, Nueva España and Castilla. It borders Fuencarral-El Pardo, Ciudad Lineal, the districts of Salamanca and Chamberí and Tetuán.
