Rotterdam is a seaport city located in the west of the Netherlands. It is the second-largest city in the Netherlands in terms of population, following Amsterdam. The port of Rotterdam was the largest in the world, but is still the largest in Europe.
In Rotterdam there is paid parking everywhere and every day of the week. The rates for paying to park in Rotterdam are affordable, although it can get extremely busy at the weekends. Therefore, it is advisable to reserve a parking space via Parkimeter in advance to be sure of a safe and affordable parking space. It's a shame to waste time looking for a parking space.
You can park cheaply and sometimes even for free around Rotterdam city center at the so-called Park + Travel parking spots. Please note, however, that there are some conditions attached to these parking spots, such as you have to travel by public transport after parking your car. You can only drive out with your vehicle if you can show a public transport ticket.
Rotterdam Central is one of the biggest train stations in the Netherlands and is located very centrally in the city, making parking near Rotterdam Central very interesting. You have an excellent connection to other cities in the Netherlands, and you can also catch international trains to Brussels and Paris from this station. Rotterdam Central Station. When you arrive in Rotterdam, take a look at the hypermodern station. This used to be an awful and outdated station, but it is now transformed into an architectural gem.
Erasmus Bridge. It is unthinkable not to think of the Erasmus bridge when you hear Rotterdam. This bridge is a landmark of the city and connects the district Kop van Zuid with the city center on the north side of the river. The 800-metre long bridge is also known as The Swan because of its elegant shape.
Euromast. If you want a beautiful view of the city, you should definitely visit the Euromast. The tower is 185 meters high, and you can enjoy a nice view and find a restaurant and 4-star hotel here. And if you like some adventure, you can also abseil down the tower under supervision. The Euromast is one of the most popular attractions in the city.
The Market Hall. This beautiful hall is definitely worth a visit. In the big curve of this hall are flats, and around the windows of these flats, you can see a beautiful work of art. Besides the beautiful structure, the Market Hall also has about a hundred food stalls where you can get food. This food hall has all kinds of suppliers of different dishes/cuisines; you can enjoy culinary delights here.
Cube houses. Close to the market hall I just mentioned are the cube houses. These houses are designed by Piet Blom and have been one of the most famous sights of Rotterdam for years. There is also a so-called viewing cube to get an impression of how the houses look from the inside.
Hotel New York. This used to be the headquarters of the Holland America line. This old head office has been converted into a four-star hotel where you can stay the night or have dinner. The building from 1917 symbolizes the many Dutch people who left for the other side of the ocean.
