• Area B covers around 72% of Milan’s territory.

• Area C corresponds to the historical city center, also known as the Cerchia dei Bastioni.

ZTL Milan Hours

ZTL activation times vary by zone:

• Area B: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (holidays excluded)

• Area C: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (holidays excluded)

Outside of these hours, access is unrestricted.

ZTL Milan:

Area C

This paid ZTL includes Milan’s historic center. It was created to reduce congestion and promote sustainable transport.

Allowed vehicles:

• Electric

• Hybrid M1

• Mopeds and motorcycles

• Vehicles with a disability permit

• Ambulances and military vehicles

Prohibited vehicles:

• Petrol Euro 0

• Diesel Euro 4 without DPF

• Diesel Euro 3, 4, 5 with DPF and V.5 > 0.0045 g/km

• Diesel Euro 4 with DPF but no V.5

• Diesel Euro 0–4 with aftermarket DPF installed after 12/31/2018

• Vehicles over 7.5 m (except with special permission)

Area B

Area B is the largest ZTL zone, with 186 active access points.

Prohibited vehicles:

• Mopeds/motorcycles Euro 0 and 1

• Petrol Euro 0 and 1

• Diesel Euro 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 without DPF

• Diesel Euro 3 and 4 with DPF and V.5 > 0.0045 g/km

• Diesel Euro 4 with DPF but no V.5

• Diesel with aftermarket DPF installed after 12/31/2018

Allowed vehicles:

• Petrol Euro 5 and 6

• LPG, methane, and bifuel vehicles

• Hybrid and electric vehicles

MoVe-In System (Lombardy): allows restricted vehicles limited annual access, tracked via a GPS black box.

ZTL Milan Payment: How to Pay

To access Area C with a non-exempt vehicle, you must purchase a daily ticket:

• Cost: €5

• Where to buy: online, parking meters, authorized vendors

• Activation: before midnight on the day of entry, by registering the license plate

Failing to pay on time may result in fines up to €165. Always double-check your access!

Disabled Access to ZTL Milan (Non-Residents)

Non-residents with a disability permit can access ZTL zones, but they must register their permit:

• License plate registration linked to the permit is required

• Valid for both Area B and Area C

• Occasional visits can be reported within 7 days after access
